Happy Friday everyone! I know posts have been scarce lately, but that is because I am working on something big and exciting which I hope to announce here soon! In the meantime, I wanted to share some information about an upcoming workshop I am putting on in association with MyMind.
We tend to go through the day on autopilot, and not pay close attention to other things happening around us. Mindfulness is the opposite of being on autopilot. It’s “Consciously bringing awareness to your here-and-now experience, with openness, interest and receptiveness.” (The Happiness Trap). Through learning mindfulness, we can begin to notice our automatic negative thinking. It’s not until you notice the automatic thoughts that you can change them. While being mindful does not immediately control, fix, or eradicate these thoughts, it helps you to enter a space where you are more likely to break free of automatic negative thinking. Over time, through practicing mindfulness regularly, you will likely experience reduced rumination, reduction of stress, better focus, and less emotional reactivity.
In this workshop, I will be discussing some of the basic elements, and benefits of using mindfulness in everyday life. From this workshop, you will learn techniques that will help you to lower your overall stress level, increase your self-awareness, and reduce symptoms like anger, anxiety, and tension. It will including going through several different mindfulness exercises, and include group discussions and questions.
If you are interested in signing up for this workshop, you can sign up, just give us a ring!
